Arkansas State University-Beebe
The administration and faculty of Arkansas State University-Beebe realize the importance of responding to the academic demands of superior students. The Honors Program is designed to challenge these talented students and augment their education.
Admission to the Honors Program at Arkansas State University-Beebe is a privilege reserved for only the most academically capable students. Admission requires a minimum of 26 on the ACT and a successful pre-University academic career or recommendation by Arkansas State University-Beebe faculty. Students must be exempt from developmental coursework prior to admission to the Honors Program.
On the class schedule, an H will be listed after the course number for each course offered as an honors course, for example, ENG 1003H. Students not admitted to the Honors Program may take individual honors courses with the consent of the instructor.
Students participating in the Honors Program must successfully complete a minimum of two honors courses per year for two years for a total of twelve semester hours. Students must also maintain a minimum of a 3.25 grade point average while taking a minimum of 30 credit hours of course work each academic year. Students who satisfy these and all other requirements for graduation will receive their diplomas and transcripts with the distinction of "Graduate of Arkansas State University-Beebe Honors Program."
Currently enrolled Arkansas State University-Beebe students who did not meet the entrance requirements for the Honors Program may enroll in the Honors Program and apply for the honors scholarship if they meet the following criteria:
All remedial requirements have been satisfied.
The student was on the Chancellor's list during the student's last enrollment.
The student must take 15 credit hours each semester and maintain a 3.25 GPA to retain the scholarship; the student must take at least one honors course each semester and must complete at least 12 hours of honors courses to "graduate with honors."
Organizations
Gamma Beta Phi Society
Gamma Beta Phi Society is a non-secret academic service organization for students in colleges and universities. The purpose of the society is the advancement of scholastic effort and the rewarding of academic merit among college students. Membership is by invitation in accordance with local chapter by-laws.
